I was out w/ 24BitGameReviewer today and we had a discussion about game "supplies" for collectors. I was wondering what expirence other people have had w/ these items? Do you or anyone you know use them? Where did you buy it? How much? I was hoping, since we're a smaller community we could help eachother out with this topic, hook each other up! =D These are archival safe (acid free etc...) but I'm unsure, there are a few cheaper version for like food or items for small time business owners, but I was wondering how safe were those? Also, anyone use universal game cases? that was one thing I was tempted to get, at least for my most prized loose NES SNES games etc... I keep all mine loose on the shelf.

I use UGC and NDS cases for pretty much my entire collection. I have really been tempted to make some videos on them and different casing solutions but I don't have a suitable cam lol. Like how the heck does a game gear game fit into a NDS case? and so forth lol
Actually discovering the UGC's is what got me really moving on collecting. Displaying it all nicely is the selling factor for me =D
The UGC cases can be a little pricey because they sell in boxes of 100 and they are made in the states and the shipping is more than the actual cases.
Last time I ordered 100 I think it cost $115 ish.

^Thanks for commenting.
I remember when i was suppose to buy UGCs there was a $50 for 100 deal! My goal is to find that one now!!!
maybe we all could also go in on a bigger bulk deal to save some money each, that could go for anything, cases, sleves etc...

It's going to be a while before I get more though I'm still filling up my last order =D. I figure whenever we have the retro gaming meet I could set up a bit of a display of different casing options with info on where I get it all =D

Can't say I have ever tried universal game cases. I do however use a lot of those Nintendo cases (the multi colored/clear ones) for my NES games and some N64 cases. I just keep my snes games in the dust sleeves. I do have those plastic cases as well for my Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance games.

I always contemplate buying the plastic cases with sleeve/cover from ebay for all of my SNES games, but it would probably cost well over $500 for 60+ cases.
I'm trying to think of ways to do it myself, but finding cover art in high resolution is tough, and so is finding a place to print it.
anyone have any recommendations or even someone local who does this?

The eBay guys jack up the prices pretty crazy on those. Just buy the UGCs and print labels from TheCoverProject.com at staples

If you don't count shipping they were $42 for 100 of I recall correctly. It's really to bad they are only in the states =\

Where are they located? Maybe if a bunch of you get together, you could make a trip down with a trailer and buy them by the 1000's. I hate how the cost of shipping has risen in the States. I refuse to pay huge amounts in shipping! Earlier this fall, I made a 12 hour trip to pick up something that would have cost me $400 in shipping. I'd be interested but I think I would eventually find myself going back to original boxes. Which brings me to my next topic: Video game box protectors. I'm going to place a HUGE order www.videogameboxprotectors.com/ in the new year. If anyone is interested, let me know and we can bulk up and save on shipping. I might even be tempted to make the drive down there to pick up the order.

I was told about a generic plastic box site that has exact measurements that should multiple formats, but half the price of that site! I was going to make an order, but my arcade took the majory of my budget recently lol

Plastic box protectors..... the clear ones that go over the boxed NES or SNES games.... I heard that a few placed just buy these generic plastic boxes that you can get custom sized, and sell it for double the price. These boxes are usual made available for trades people, so they can get packaging for their chocolates or crafts to display for selling. Sometimes people will even write "museum grade" on it, but since there's no pacakging, it might be sketchy to believe them. Magazines eh??? Like nintendo power?

The ones that I'm looking at are "polyethylene terephthalate, acid free, ligind free which are safe for long term storage"
Ya, nintendo powers, nintendo power paraphernalia (trading cards, vhs tapes), strategy guides, etc...
