So there should be seperate rooms for tournaments, vendors, and lobby games. In the smash tournament there should be a bigger room with seating for people who want to watch with projection screens. That will prevent the mass amount of people standing. Also make a cap for the tournament. I get that getting more money and what not was the point but it was way too much waiting not enough playing. To my knowledge there were over 50 teams. That's a little nuts. Or get more stations for it. You have to also think big... everyone who came expect one guest at the very least to come with them next year... and on top of that new people will be joining on their own. Maybe try and incorporate some guests. It might get even more people to come out. Also taking from Ai-kon... what is so successful about it is that they have pannels... And programs to tell you where the pannels are. You could get different staff to host different pannels such as game shows (like video game jeporday). and maybe "how to make game props and costumes". or maybe even a pokemon tournament. This has so much potential. If you want to call it a convention you gotta think big. Make people want to spend their childhood there for a day or even a weekend event. Where they can make friends, learn things, and show off their skills they have been working on. I really hope that for next year you guys are willing to expand your staff and volunteers and make it really happen.

I would like to see some more smaller tournaments through out the day such as like tetris or kirbys avalanche they don't need to have prizes just the completion is fun. maybe have some stations with just the consoles and people can bring games that they want to play.
One idea a had was to have a speed run contest of the first mario bros with the warp pipes or something like that, that is fast
it would also be cool to do a mini nintendo championchips where you take a few popular games then add up the score

I agree with Some Dude, that having separate rooms for the vendors and the gaming lounge would be great. That would also give you more room to expand the gaming lounge, which would be a definite plus. Also, I don't know if there's any place around here that rents them, but getting some arcade cabinets would be an awesome addition as well!
As far as tournaments go, I'd love to see a Mario Kart: Double Dash tournament for next year, and maybe some smaller, more informal competitions through out the day (maybe give away drink or food coupons as prizes?)
Overall, I think that this year's event was great and I'd just like to see more of everything next year!

I loved RGU!
Here are some suggestions for the next one:
- Bigger venue (or hold tournaments in separate as others suggested). - Some arcade cabs to play! - I also agree - projectors for big screen action!
Ideas for tournament games:
- A Punch Out tourney where players just try to beat or stay alive vs. Mike Tyson - Dr. Mario would be wicked - More of a presence of Atari 2600 - How about 1-life Yars Revenge, Pitfall, Frogger, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, or Missile Command?

Thanks for the comment, I had to read it a few times, there's lots here and we really appreciate it! I would LOVE a panel, and it's more realistic with the bigger our event (hopefully) gets. A bigger venue does solve a lot of the "issues" that people did have the the first RGU! The way I look at it, it's only up from here and the goal is to always top ourselves next time! =D I personally take responsibility for the voulnteers, I really made them all push to the max and they performed great! We would probably need a triple compliment next time for what we have planned, maybe then they can have breaks! =D
