So all you Retro Game Collectors like myself, what are your goals for 2014??? As for me...If you follow me on Thriftdweller on YouTube, you'll know I made a few resolutions for 2013, how did I do? 1) Bulk Up the Wii collection: Well, other priorities did come up but I did pick up a few key Wii titles - Trauma Team, Sin Punishment, Okami... I might continue this in 2014, there's still a few titles I want to pickup: Fortune Street, Mario Party 8, Mario Galaxy 2, Marasuma Demon Blade (spell check that please!) 2) Stay away from Shelf Padding Long story short, i failed this! I picked up a lot of games... just cause 3) Buy an arcade Well, I kinda accomplished this goal, but I made a MAME cabinet myself... so yeah, kinda counts?!?! Nate's 2014 Goals:1) Finish off a few key N64 Titles I'll be working with 64BitMatthew on this one! 2) Finish off the PS1 Fighter's Edge Collection 3) Thriftdweller Season 3 - Make good videos. I didn't really too much for goals this year compared to others. Mainly cause of the new baby I don't make it out as frequently to hunt for games. However I did set two that pertain to retro gaming.
1. Hit 600 NES games- To start the year I'm 41 titles away from hitting 600. 41 should be relatively attainable but I factored in that I've cut back how frequently I'm making the rounds and secondly it's getting harder and harder to find titles locally that I need.
2. Finish Official US Playstation Magazine- I'm currently 2 issues away from having a complete set(unfortunately it's the first two issues). I've been at this point for awhile but I only check ebay periodically for them. This year I'm going to try and check more frequently, try other online sites and see if I can track these two down.
Aside from that I'm just hoping for a year of some nice finds and hopefully a decent amount of free time to enjoy playing some of my backlog.

I'll probably come up with more as the year progresses, but here are a few that I know of now:
1) concentrate almost completely on n64 - The last few months I have already started this, but this year I want to be pretty much strictly the year of the n64 for me. Last year I pretty much concentrated on boxed games for any nintendo system. This year I want to narrow that down to just the n64. I will still pick up the odd title here and there for other systems, but it will be strictly on a "really really want to play" criteria only.
2) more roadtrips to Winnipeg - Now, not more in the sense that I will be travelling in each month, but more so continuing the trend of going in once every 2-3 months to visit the thriftdwellers (and anyone else who wants to visit me lol). I really enjoy hanging out with Nate, Lester and Ian, and want to continue having regular "boys nights out" lol.
3) hit the 275 n64 game mark - I'm already around 230, so this shouldn't be too hard to achieve with a whole year. I still have quite a few commons to get, so that should help too. I hope that most games picked up this year will be boxed, as I'm going for a cib complete n64 collection, but I won't pass up on loose cartridges for cheap prices. I could be ambitious and shoot for a complete n64 collection by the end of the year, but I think that may be pushing it, and I don't want to feel rushed. The journey is just as fun as reaching the destination. Ok, that was a bit corny lol.

My collecting goal this year is to complete my N64 collection and get the few remaining carts I need variants included.
My second goal is to make it to 150 manuals for N64 games.

i want to focus more on snes, in 2013 i was focusing on nes because i had a lot less experience with it but now i want to focus on getting snes games, all the games i played when i was young(er) are all gone I want to get at least one uncommon/expensive retro game, i don't really have any expensive games in my collection mainly because when i started collecting around 2 years ago i just thought that buying games that were under 5-10 bucks would be fine but know i have a craving for playing through a really popular game that is on the more expensive side such as conkers bad fur day or super metroid, yes i consider super metroid expensive for game because i don't think I've ever spent over 10 bucks for a retro game

I honestly hadn't thought about it too much. I didn't really want to get into the whole New Year's Resolution thing, but this is a little different, so I'll try to think of something for myself. 1. Garage sales - I didn't get to hardly any last year. This time around, I definitely plan on going to more garage sales/yard sales and seeing what I can find. 2. Wii RPG's - I think I want to focus on getting my hands on the RPG's on the Wii. Xenoblade is going down in price and most of the others are reasonable. So, once tax money comes in, I'm thinking about giving in to buying Xenoblade and taking that off the list. Then, pick up what I can from there. 3. Horror Games - I want to get more survival horror titles. I have some of the Resident Evil games, a couple of the Fatal Frame's and one Silent Hill game. I believe that all I have in the survival horror genre at the moment. I'd say that kind of game is my number two, following RPG's obviously. So I'd like to get some more games in that category.

My goals would be stuff like this:
1. Convert my arcade cabinet into Cadash. I have the board already, just need the bezel and marquee.
2. Play and finish more 360, PS3, and Wii games. Now that they are considered last generation, I feel like I can really play some stuff that's been gathering dust and find some hidden gems.
3. Record more episodes of our podcast! It's dumb and fun to drink beer and talk about games and record the conversations.
4. More road trips to other cities, provinces, and to the USA to look for games. Hit weird flea markets, garage sales, swap meets, and pawn shops all over the place.
5. Focus my collecting on stuff I really want. Stop buying 5 dollar games I don't need and spend larger amounts on a really key item.
6. Make more of my own game cases and make cases for other collectors. Sometimes it's nice to have a replacement case and if I can set up a solid system to make them really high quality and get a bunch of Universal Game Cases I can get started.

My goals would be stuff like this: 4. More road trips to other cities, provinces, and to the USA to look for games. Hit weird flea markets, garage sales, swap meets, and pawn shops all over the place. If you are ever passing through Brandon, let me know and I will happily show you some of the more hidden spots to game hunt at. There's not a ton here, but a few good ones that are easy to miss if you're not from the area. That offer actually goes for anyone here from the forum if they want.
