Hey all!
I know a few people have been asking about my custom casing that I do with UGC and NDS cases. Through this guide I will explain everything and give the all the tools I use and places I buy materials!
There is very little that won't fit in these 2 cases with some slight modification that anyone can do. The end result will make your game room a presentable thing of beauty. (and help will convince your spouse/gf/bf that retro collecting isn't silly and is in fact quite the attractive conversation piece as fine as any china cabinet or hard bound book collection *snickers*).
Where and what to buy...
UGC (Universal Game Cases) I use these to store Nintendo, Famicom, Super Nintendo, Super Famicom, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Sega 32X, Nintendo 64, ATARI 2600 and more! Everything (NES carts need some help to fit right but I will get into that) will fit snugly, safely and presentable.
You can get these in a few places online but the best for me has been Mediashelving.com. The only down side is they only mass produce these in the US and us Canadians get bent over a barrel on shipping. If you can get together with a friend or 2 and make a bulk order. It will cut back on some cost.
NDS Cases (Nintendo Dual Screen Cases) These are your typical cases you will find the for the DS games. These can be modified to hold a wide variety of games I personally use them for Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance*, Nintendo DS, Wonderswan, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Playstation Portable and more. All these and more work great with some easy modifications!
I get these cases direct from Nintendo and are relatively cheap!
*The only thing is all new cases sent out by nintendo do not have the slot of Gameboy Advance. So you will have to track those ones down if you collect Gameboy Advance games, if you can't find any you can use the ones without the clips as well it just takes a bit more work.
