Hey everyone - Matt creator of VGCollect here. I do random searching to see if anyone is talking about the site and stumbled on this thread. I try my best to be really active with user feedback so I always like to introduce myself and gather positive and negative feedback. VGCollect was formed out of my personal frustration with all other available options so I am constantly striving to make our system better and easier to use.
That being said, I appreciate the small plug as well as the feedback already given. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions. Thanks!

Hey Matt thanks for coming on our forums. It's great when you know your feedback goes somewhere and is actually listened to. Just because you came on and said "Hey" I plan to come give the website another shot. =D

Awesome and no problem! We pride ourselves on really letting the users guide the ship. Here is our feedback forum, which has a lot of good discussions on the future plans. Also feel free to spam the Winnipeg group on our forums. I know we have quite a few Canadian members.

Personally, VG Collect is still my main place to archive my games at the moment, so it's cool you joined the forum! You bet we'll spam RGW on your forum! =D jk, but yah! I said it here before I like that it's a community run database, i'm still in the process of creating my archive... kinda got hindered b/c of planning our events/group stuff!

That was a tough decision when I first started the site 3 years ago but I figured:
1) I can't do it by myself
2) One of the issues with other site out there is that you'd have to wait for staff to add or approve items
3) Us collectors are the most anal and precise about listing things properly, so I figured I'd open it up to everyone
We started with a small database of about 3000 games from a previous site I started and have grown to 50,000ish - all user submitted. Obviously some junk data makes it way through but we try our best to filter that out. We are closing in on 700,000 games throughout all user collections - which simply blows my mind.

That's great stuff there Mattycakes! It's cool you joined our forum, even if it's just for this thread! I think i'll try to join your feedback forum you linked. When I started this online group, adding people and delegating tasks just makes everything grow FASTER and BETTER. I liked doing things myself, but with the help of the planning committee we have, I think we'll reach our goals FASTER than alone! So yah, i understand when you mean "I can't do it by myself!" BTW - I still plan on completing my collection soon! I have about 1100 more games to enter to my list I'm worried about when I get to PS2 and NES! lol

Glad I could give a little plug to the site. I need to do a good bit of updating on my collection on there. Haven't had a lot of opportunity to do things like that recently. Busy busy busy...
